Prayer Week 2017 (2 images)

The children have had an interesting and thoughtful week this week. On Monday Reverend Sian came to lead Worship and introduced the children to a Seder meal from the Jewish faith. On Tuesday we thought about different reasons for praying and the children wrote their own prayers, which have made a stunning display in our hall. Wednesday was our Armistice service in church and our prayers were for remembrance. Thursday the children were taught meditation techniques so that they could have quiet, still time whenever they wished. The worship group led our worship and have introduced more ways to pray to the children, which we hope we will use during the term. In the classrooms the children have looked at all world faiths and the way prayers and symbols are used in those faiths. Friday leaves us thinking about Children in Need and we offer our prayers and make our donations to this good cause.

Red Ridge (228 images)

Day One, This morning after an interesting coach journey (Our driver navigated these Welsh hills like a pro) we split into two teams and did archery or caving. After dinner, we went for a wander into the hills. All children tucked up in bed after a hot chocolate. A great end to a great day. Day Two. Today the children went kayaking on the lake and then went on the high climbing activity course. At lunch we ate sandwiches that the children all made themselves. We had some interesting combinations. . . . Day Three. After a full fried breakfast, we took the coach to go caving. We had to crawl on our stomachs and fit through some very tight gaps. The children found a bat in the depths of the cave. Turning the torches off meant pitch black! A little bit scary. We took a walk from England back to Wales and admired the panoramic views around us. After lunch we went rock climbing and abseiling. Lots of children overcame their fears. After dinner, back out for orienteering in the dark. Day Four: Today the children went on an eight mile bike ride! They also got a chance to go on the canoes going down the canal. Some were fortunate enough to receive a glimpse of a kingfisher. The steering today was very varied but no one fell in. Some of our group were a little competitive but all of us had an excellent day. After some yummy dinner a disco was enjoyed by all. What a fantastic week we have all had. Day Five: This morning after packing we enjoyed a gentle stroll to end our adventure. We admired the magical views and took the opportunity to share our favorite memories of the trip. There were tears on departure but all good things must come to an end. Mr Tisdale is currently planning the 2018 residential. Where next for our fabulous children? A big thank you to Miss Hadley, Mrs Knott and Mrs Flynn for supporting the children so successfully during the week. A big Thank you to Mr Tisdale for organising such a successful trip and making us all laugh.
